Natacha Akshoomoff, Ph. D., Clinical Psychologist Natacha Akshoomoff is an Assistant Adjunct Professor in the department of Psychiatry and an Affiliated Faculty at the University of California, San Diego. She is also a Research Scientist at the Child and Adolescent Services Research Center, Children's Hospital. She earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the UCSD/SDSU Joint Doctoral Program, completed her clinical psychology internship at the University of Flordia, and carried out a postdoctoral research fellowship in developmental cognitive neuroscience with Dr. Joan Stiles at UCSD. After five years as an Assistant Professor at Georgia State University in Atlanta, she returned to UCSD to pursue her research interests in autism. Dr. Akshoomoff has published over 30 journal articles and authored book chapters on the neuropsychological development of attention and visuospatial processes in normal and atypical development. Her primary research focus is on diagnostic and assessment practices for children with autism in community and school settings. She is currently the Principal Investigator of an NIMH-funded career development award. As a certified trainer, Dr. Akshoomoff provides our staff with training in the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS), the Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised (ADI-R), and research-related clinical support. |
